Celebrate Black History Month, win a free copy of GOOD PEOPLE, and join our next author chat
Happy Friday, readers! It’s the start of a new lunar year and the SBC team is bringing Fire Horse energy into the weekend to gallop through some books and burn down systems of oppression. WHO’S WITH US? 🔥
Speaking of galloping through a book, our February SBC Reads pick, GOOD PEOPLE, by Patmeena Sabit kept me riveted all the way through. I was blown away by the author’s skill at hooking the reader and weaving a narrative that was equal parts gripping mystery and complex cultural critique. SBC community manager, Kate, got to hear Patmeena speak at Books Are Magic in Brooklyn last week, and I can’t wait to chat with the author next week on Instagram Live.
We’re giving away 5 free copies to SBC members, enter before Feb 28 for your chance to win!
Tune in for a live conversation with author Patmeena Sabit and Silent Book Club cofounder Guinevere de la Mare on Instagram Live next Wednesday. All are welcome!

Local chapters celebrate VIGIL release
Readers in Honolulu, Atlanta, Huntsville, Denver, Tampa, and New Haven came together for a series of candlelight reading vigils to celebrate the release of our first SBC Reads pick, VIGIL, by George Saunders. Many thanks to Random House for lighting up the evening with hundreds of flickering candles and stacks of books! 🕯️🕯️🕯️ We even got a shoutout from George Saunders himself, who thought our Instagram Live with Silent Book Club of Death was pretty cool…
