Audiobook appreciation post!
Enter our audiobook giveaway and celebrate two new books by SBC organizers
Did you know that June is Audiobook Appreciation Month? Yes, that is a real thing we totally didn’t make up as an excuse to wear noise-canceling headphones in the house and ignore requests for attention/snacks/“where is my [fill in the blank].”
This month, our friends at Libro.fm are celebrating their 10th anniversary! More than 3,000 bookstores in 80 countries around the globe use Libro.fm to offer 450,000+ audiobooks to listeners.
Unlike mega-corporate audiobook companies—cough, rhymes with laudable but is anything but—Libro.fm shares profits with local bookshops. These are our kind of people.
Have you been thinking about switching to Libro.fm, or trying it out for the first time? Start a new account this month and get three audiobooks for the price of one! 🎉🎉🎉
To celebrate 10 years of audiobooks, Silent Book Club + Libro.fm are giving away 10 free copies of one of our favorite Summer 2024 reads: Funny Story, by Emily Henry, read by the inimitable Julia Whelan. And what’s even better, this giveaway is open to international chapters! Submit your entry by June 30.

SBC Organizer Spotlight
Next month, two different SBC chapter organizers are publishing books!
On July 1, Two Novembers: A Memoir of Love 'n' Sex in Sonnets by Liza Achilles (SBC Rockville, Maryland) will be published by Beltway Editions. Two Novembers started as a love letter written in Shakespearean sonnets to the physical therapist who helped Liza recover from a computer overuse injury. It became a chronicle of the modern struggles (and humor!) of love and sex in the twenty-first century.
On July 16, Midwest Shreds: Skating Through America's Heartland by Mandy Shunnarah (SBC Columbus, Ohio) will be published by Belt Publishing. In Midwest Shreds, Mandy Shunnarah travels the region for a deep dive into its skating culture, detailing the activity’s long, storied history and the large and diverse skating community that calls the Midwest home.
Both books are now available for preorder wherever books are sold. Congratulations, Liza and Mandy!
