My fall plans...
This photo of a solitary Little Free Library surrounded by fallen leaves on the shores of a Swiss lake pretty much sums up how I'd like spend my fall. But pandemic be damned, we're making the best of these bizarre and difficult times and forging ahead with hopeful plans for the months ahead.
In September we're launching a new partnership with Graduate Hotels to host Silent Book Club in bookish boutique hotels around the country. The first four locations kick off this fall in Cincinnati, New Haven, Nashville, and Lincoln, NE. But even if you don't live in these towns, you ALL can enter to win a reading retreat getaway with a free overnight stay at any Graduate Hotel location in the US and UK and a tote bag filled with books. Get all the details and enter the giveaway here.
Fall is the best season for books, with all the major publishers saving their blockbusters for the holidays. And this year has a doozy of a line-up from well-loved SBC authors. The House in the Cerulean Sea author TJ Klune has a new queer love story, Under the Whispering Door. Ruth Ozeki, author of one of my all-time favorites, A Tale for the Time Being, is back after eight years with The Book of Form and Emptiness.
And there are new releases from Sally Rooney, Colson Whitehead, Phoebe Robinson, Louise Erdrich, Anthony Doerr, Amor Towles, Amanda Gorman, Joy Harjo, and Tracy K. Smith. Also? Hillary Rodham Clinton teamed up with Louise Penny to write a political thriller. WHAT? Check out our top 5 most-anticipated fall reads on the SBC blog.
Happy reading and please stay masked and stay safe, everyone. Until next time,
— Guinevere & Laura
