That time we met Madeleine Albright...
As spring comes into bloom, we’re happy to see some of our chapters moving their meetings outside!
Sunny Primrose Hill was the site of this month's SBC London meetup. Portland, Maine is participating in the Congress Square Park summer series. And Rockville, Maryland’s regular spot has a sun-friendly patio. Of course, any time you’re reading outside, SBC is there with you, as our community shared from Kurdistan in northern Iraq.
If you have a spot to read, but aren’t sure what to pull from your TBR pile next, our intrepid blogger and SBC host, Sharon K, has suggestions. Looking to explore poetry? Try one of these 20 poets from across the centuries. For a summer novel, look to her suggestions based on what you may have previously read and enjoyed.
Personally I’ve just finished the fantastic biography, Shirley Jackson: A Rather Haunted Life, and recommend it. It’s a fascinating look into the woman behind some of the most famous psychological thrillers of the last century, and a peek into midcentury life.
Next up for me is Madeleine Albright’s, Fascism: A Warning. On Independent Bookstore Day Albright made a surprise visit to Green Apple Books, where team SBC had set up our mimosa station for the third year running. We had a wonderful time meeting members of the SBC community—not to mention the former Secretary of State.
Check out additional recommendations in the Silent Book Swap below, where indie authors, bloggers, and businesses connect with readers. If you have something you'd like to promote in an upcoming newsletter, drop us a line and ask about our $25 intro rate.
Happy reading!

Unlike a traditional book club, “reading a different book naturally brings together different people,” says host Megan Hand in a recent article featuring her SBC chapter.
