Read Around the World
Do you often find yourself asking, "What should I read next?" For some, finding the next book can be a harrowing task. Others relish the challenge of a never-ending TBR list. Everyone's reading habits are unique, which is what makes Silent Book Club meetups so interesting. I love hearing about what people enjoy reading, and also how others discover new books.Â
Recently I was chatting with my friend Sharon, the host of the Portland, Maine, SBC chapter. She set a goal this year to read books from every continent around the world—Africa, the Americas, Asia/Middle East, the Caribbean, Europe, and the South Pacific. Lucky for us, she is blogging about it so other SBC members can join her on this literary journey around the world.
You can find her first installment of recommended reads from Africa here. I already have several favorites on the list—Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Trevor Noah's Born a Crime, and the excellent Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi—but there are so many more on my TBR list. I mean, how have I not yet read classics like Things Fall Apart, or Cry, the Beloved Country? Let alone all of the newer additions to the list. So many books, so little time!
For those of you always on the lookout for new books or authors to check out, we've just launched the Silent Book Swap, a new classifieds section where indie authors, bloggers, and businesses can connect with readers. If you have something you'd like to promote in an upcoming newsletter, drop us a line!Â

Noir may be classic, but Blanc has more fun. If you like mysteries and romance, check out Katy Leen's Lora Weaver series.
Perfect for book lovers, I'd Rather be Reading is a pocket-sized collection of art, essays, and poetry celebrating all things bookish.
Brief Book Reviews is my current go-to blog for discovering my next read. It can be hard to align reading tastes, but BBR never steers me wrong.
